My finger, livid with embarrassment,

my blood salty, surprisingly salty

for a girl my age.

light brown hair (‘I wish you were still blonde, Dad.’

‘Why?’) See him, how trim, he runs every day,

even Christmas Day, yeah, come to pick me up,

his real, brown daughter. Him! On the other side

of the glass. I rattatat, jellyfish my mouth to it,

‘Dad, wave to me!’ ‘Ain’t your dad’ ‘Is! Look, Dad!’

Dad doesn’t wave, he squints in the sun

(Always frowning, Richard, face all lined up)

Couldn’t be they said. ‘Liar,’ George shrugged.
